Since the implementation of electronic transfer of GP correspondence each Directorate (we have 5 within the Division of Surgery) has saved an average 8 hours per week (through not having to sit and fold letters and envelope them). This has enabled us to devote further time to work on a corporate project called Clinic on the Day where the patient waits in clinic, after their consultation, for their copy of the clinic letter and they leave with details of all diagnostic investigations/follow up appointments.
