Before the new software, we would produce the referral, print it out and put it in an envelope. Now, the patients love seeing the message flash on the screen, confirming that the hospital server has received the referral before they get up from their chair in my consulting room. It’s very reassuring both for them and us.

Dr David Morris, GP, St Mark’s Dee View Surgery, Flintshire

Healthcare professionals and GPs need as much detailed information about patients as possible to offer the best quality of care. We’ve developed the most comprehensive [stroke] template possible to make sure that GPs get the right information; the Medisec software then makes sure they get it in the right format and at the right time

Dr Ganesh Subramanian, Consultant Stroke Physician, Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

The discharge notes which we get from the consultant often don’t arrive until weeks, and sometimes even months, after the patient has been discharged, and often it is a case of too little too late. The Medisec electronic template system provides us with all the information we need to enable us to provide high quality ongoing care for our patients. It has given general practice the opportunity to say what we need and to ensure standards are consistently high.

Dr Helen Hosker, Clinical Lead for Strokes and Falls, NHS Manchester

This has transformed dictation for me. I am now able to do it long-distance, with letters usually ready for sign off within the week.

Dr Janice Greenfield, Community Paediatrician, Southport

Medisec is the missing link. By providing one central electronic funnel which a whole range of providers can drop information into, it allows everyone to talk to one another in a consistent way. It means that we get critical clinical information from the hospital overnight rather than it sitting in out-trays, waiting to be printed or being lost in the post!

Dr Neil Paul, GP, Ashfields Primary Care Centre, Cheshire

Medisec has been hugely beneficial in improving patient care and also the day-to-day working lives of secretarial and medical staff in the Countess of Chester Hospital. The secretaries are completely sold on the system and wonder how they managed in the past. Medical staff, likewise, use it on an everyday basis and are able to instantly access letters without the need to obtain case notes. This has major benefits, eg while speaking on the phone to patients and GPs, to put results in context and to get the background on emergency admissions, pending arrival of the case notes. It has also revolutionised our communication with GPs.

Dr Richard Worth, Consultant Physician in Diabetes/Endocrinology, Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

We have numerous clinicians in the field but, until now, they have had to return to the hospital to dictate letters or to connect their dictation devices before transcriptions could take place. We had already streamlined the transfer of patient information using the MedisecTRUST solution, but transcription times will now be much faster with the integration of Medisec’s digital dictation platform.

Heather Swanston, e-Prescribing Project Manager, Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

If I changed jobs to a different hospital they would have to have Medisec. I can’t praise it highly enough.
